Billy Joel And Wife Split

After five years of marriage, the 'Piano Man'
Billy Joel and wife Katie Lee confirmed they're
splitting up.

In a joint statement the couple said "This decision
is the result of much thought and consideration."
"Billy and Katie remain caring friends, with
admiration and respect for each other."

What's goin' around are speculations that Lee had
been linked romantically to Yigal Azrouel, the fashion
designer who had been with her to several
events while Joel was on tour.

Claire Mercuri (Joel's publicist) denies the speculation,
saying that the couple arrived at the decision only in the
past two weeks.

Joel and Lee first met in the bar of the Peninsula Hotel
and in 2004, less than two years later, they married at
Joel's Centre Island estate.

Billy Joel was 55 and Lee 23 when they married and
about the age, Lee said "Obviously there's a big age
difference, but he's very immature and I'm very mature,
so we meet in the middle."
